DOUBLE ENTENDRE EP - 2002
So what happened to the 4 tracks which were omitted from the Faux Pas album? The Double Entendre EP concept was created to accommodate them. The EP was used to promote the first compilation album and rather than just release Par for the course, the EP would pave the way. The Four tracks that were eventually dropped from Faux Pas were not the four originally dropped. I was convinced that my mate the android should stay on the album, but then realised that the EP needed a strong track that could not only support the ep, but par for the course too. Rock it, man was subsequently re-instated to Faux pas as it had a different sound too it, and the EP was concluded.
The artwork, although not a full album concept, featured three robots, an intentional nod to the "android" track and the robot vocal on Taxi, thus linking the EP back to its' Faux pas roots.

1. My mate the android: Main track for the Double Entendre EP, and very much inspired by Vince Clarke of Yazoo, Depeche Mode & Erasure. A very digital sounding track and reminds me of C-3P0 & R2-D2 having a conversation with Marvin the paranoid android, in the middle of an oil bar exclusively for robots. Remember the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars, the droids were not allowed in, "we don't serve there kind!" A droid needs somewhere to unwind!!!
2. Funk it up: Half hip-hop, half funk that's funk it up. Lots of scratching and a catchy piano riff. Don't forget that vocal sample "FUNK IT UP"
3. Gimme the love: More of the above on this one. Again some scratching and a vocal sample, deep plodding bass, chuck in a sequence and that's it really
4. Away: Unusual vocal arrangement, again experimenting with vocal samples. This track has many elements to it, some fizzing synths and reverse cymbal crashes. An early version of the experimental tracks found on the later albums.
